Families can be the balm that soothes us yet the knife that cuts deeply. So complicated.

Wow. Love that book! Loaned my copy to friends, the younger women that I worked with. Really enjoyed your reading.. You could have a new career, in narration.

It’s hard to find words more than to say your writing is so clear. The images, yes, but more dimensional- a felt sense.

Thank you so much. I was pinching my leg very hard so my voice wouldn’t break but then it did. Glad it didn’t take anything away.

Well, look at who just posted the most powerful piece of writing on Substack today. Period. Blanche McCrary Boyd, ladies and gents. Sit down and take notes.

In addition to this excerpt, you can listen the whole story here: https://amzn.to/3MOa4tR. The audiobook of The Revolution of Little Girls. It is ALL this brilliant.

Wow. I forgot about this meditation part: I have also seen the blue light and the pearl, but not yet the eye of God. What an incredible excerpt, Blanche. Much love to you.

Wow back! I've never talked to anyone else about seeing that stuff. I was in a weekend with Baba Muktananda when it happened. It changed my life. I've also gone to see Gurumai, but she was not as powerful a figure for me. Did you experience this in Siddha yoga or find it in your own meditation practice?

It was a kirtan. We were singing chants. I guess I should write about it too.

One little laugh, I can’t resist. The Southern White Trash cookbook author, the late Ernest Mae Mickler, told me to put salty peanuts in diet Coca-Cola, and he said “it’s called a Lo-Cal Pick Me Up.” I told him I liked the “hi-cal” better, but the name stuck and I just love it. Sometimes it’s the only thing that gets me through a plane trip.

It's hard to beat. Tom's peanuts are best, if you can find them!

This story, read aloud, makes all the difference. As prose it was powerful enough, but hearing your voice catch as it did, I was right there with you. So many of us know an Uncle Royce, don’t we?

And yes I think most women of my generation know an Uncle Royce. I think we have protected our own children from people like this. We’ve tried.
